The annual marching band exhibition features performances by bands from historically black colleges and universities (HBCU). This showcase has been hosted by the American Honda Society for now 16 years, starting off the tradition in the once standing Georgia Dome. Since the Georgia Dome's demolition November 20th, 2017, the 16th Annual Honda Battle of the Bands Showcase was held at the newly-opened Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Over 62,000 people filled the stands to show support for all of the hard work and dedication it took to put on such a great show!

Eight HBCU bands performed during the showcase including:
  1. Miles College
  2. Hampton University
  3. Alabama A&M University
  4. Praire View A&M University
  5. North Carolina State University
  6. Alabama State University
  7. Tennesse State University
  8. Bethune-Cookman University

Each band came with a different sound, theme and energy that won over the audience. The energy that bounced from one band member to the next. Live performances from the R&B hit group 112 graced the stage during the half-time performance along with celebrity apperances in the audience.

The band isn't just compromised of the horns and drum line, but of the different components that make the band an experience one to remember. Guest singers and choirs accompanied the music that the band played, along with the majorette dance teams and other surprise acts during each bands performance.

The Honda 2018 Power of Dreams Award was presented to Brian Smith. Brian created the Blue Heart Foundation in Montgomery, Al as a way to fulfill basic needs and maintains the foundation with funds from his own pocket. His volunteer work teaching music at a local High School in Montgomery is just one of the additional ways he gives back to his community.

An experience to experience is the Honda Battle of the Bands! Will you be attending the 17th Annual HBOB Showcase in 2019?
